Barrel racing is a high speed equestrian sport requiring skill, daring and a very well trained horse. Barrels are set in a pattern and riders compete for the best times circling each barrel and racing to the next.
Originally conceived as a women's event at cowboy rodeos, the sport has evolved to a speciality of its own with men's and women's races. Most race events also include pole bending and other skilled equestrian games.
